FAQS
WHAT I CAN OFFER
I can offer sport-specific coaching in strongman, powerlifting, Olympic lifting, and bodybuilding. While I can provide strength and conditioning coaching across all sports and activities.
What’s the difference between sport-specific coaching and strength and conditioning coaching?
Well, the difference lies in their approaches. A sport-specific coach focuses on movements to develop skills required in a particular sport, emphasizing technique and training that closely resembles the sport. For instance, a rugby coach would concentrate on scrumming, tackling, ball handling, receiving, throwing, kicking, and other sport-specific aspects.
A strength and conditioning coach adopts a broader training approach aimed at developing overall physical attributes and capabilities. Although they consider the specific sport, their focus is on improving fundamental elements like speed, strength, power, mobility, and endurance. A strength and conditioning coach for a rugby player might prescribe exercises such as the Olympic clean and jerk or heavy sled pushes to enhance power and target muscles used in various pushing activities within the sport.
I do strongman, powerlifting, Olympic lifting or bodybuilding, what style of coaching will I receive?
For coaching in these sports, my approach varies based on your position in the season, proximity to competition, and current athlete requirements. My goal is to bridge the gap between strength and conditioning coaching and sport-specific coaching, applying principles that cultivate well-rounded athletes performing at high levels while minimizing the risk of injury and ensuring good athletic longevity.
